On Wednesday, January 28th, “The Joint” at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will host the 2009 Transworld Rider’s Poll Awards. Nominees from the Forum Camp include Jake Blauvelt for RIDER OF THE YEAR and BEST VIDEO PART, along with Pat Moore who was also nominated for BEST VIDEO PART. Outstanding job gentlemen, we’ll see you in Vegas.

The first (and possibly only) cover of Natural Terrain Magazine belongs to Jake Blauvelt. For Jake’s take on his ending part, vegan snowboarding, and waiting in Whistler, start scouring and try to find yourself a copy before they’re all gone (or even appear).

Jake Blauvelt shipped up to Edmonton for a Forum or Against’em showing at the sold-out Garneau Theater. The usual ensued. Needless to say, Forum or Against’em is, well, it’s amazing. Go out there and get a copy.

Jake Blauvelt is on his way to becoming the North American Nicolas Müller. Raised on the cold hard slopes of Vermont, Blauvelt first found his calling in the pipes and parks of the USASA Green Mountain Series, eventually capping off his East Coast contest dominance with a 2004 US Open slopestyle win. Since these successes, Blauvelt has migrated west to Washington and planted his roots in and around the Baker area. Focusing more on the fresh and less on the leaderboard, Jake has amplified his aerial ability to new and improved heights, and developed an innate knack for sniffing out the natural features that Mother Nature offers, rather than pre-built Park Bully step-downs. Not sure what these are called in the high tech world of digital recording, but here are some printouts (that have been scanned, clipped, cropped, and positioned) from the Forum or Against’em rider intro shoots.

Here are some photos from the Zurich premiere of Forum or Against’em. This event went down (by the time you read this) a few weeks ago, but who gets sick of a little chilling, partying, and fanning out - the stuff that follows any movie premiere, anywhere in the world.

There was a bus ride, some down time, a club, a premiere, autograph signings, drinks, dancing, partying, and an official end to the European Forum or Against’em Tour. That’s it, “that’s what it’s all about”.

This installment features a whole bunch of additional footage of the natural, fluid style of Jake Blauvelt. Besides having a two-part ender of the film, Blauvelt is sitting on a long catalog of clips like this. Bravo!

On the hot drive to France, the Forum Team was fortunate enough to take a break and, well, do a little wake surfing to cool down – as if the hangovers and jet lag of European movie premiere travel doesn’t mess with your head. After getting out of the water, the usual premiere/party antics ensued. Aaaaggghhh yeah.

The team awoke in Munich at Badeanstalt, a huge club that was converted from an in-ground swimming pool. With millions, potentially billions of people in attendance, things heated up quickly. Unfortunately, the old pool didn’t help much in terms of a cool down for the sweaty maniacs in attendance.

With Innsbruck being Forum’s European home front, it was no surprise that The Weekender Club was bound to go off. Forum or Against’em was shown on four separate levels of the party, so the team had a lot of ground to cover in one night. Needless to say, shit was handled. Is this a claim, or what?

While busing around Europe for the Forum or Against’em European tour, Jake Blauvelt and Pat Moore spent a few moments with Method Magazine - where they answered various questions about the finer points of their specific snowboarding situation.

Cafe Capital in Antwerp hosted the kick-off to the Forum or Against’em tour through Europe. With 500 people in attendance, the premiere and party kicked well through the late hours of the night with a product toss, BBQ, and dancing (you know how those Euros get). Things broke up at 3am and the team shipped off for their next stop in Munich.

This is some Forum media coverage as seen in the October issue of Transworld Snowboarding Magazine. Highlights include “Three Days with Jake Blauvelt”, and Good Wood awards for the Seeker, Substance, Spinster, and Craft.

Pat Moore’s Signature Session at HCSC was not to be missed. It was so good, in fact, that Forum Teammates decided to attend camp and take part in some of the festivities.. While there, Pat was joined by Peter Line, Eddie Wall, Jake Blauvelt, Jake Welch, and For’am, Austen Sweetin – whom all enjoyed some post-spring conditions, chilling with the campers, signing autographs, and testing / tweaking some prototypes.

Jake Blauvelt can land just about anything. His most recent stomping includes the September 08 cover of Snowboarder Magazine. Other highlights from the magazine include an ON DECK for For’am Greg Bretz, and an article on “The Launch”, featuring Greg and fellow For’am teammate, Trevor Jacob.

With session number one (aka: Forum Week) kicking off at Camp of Champions, members of the Forum team were more than enthusiastic about taking a trip to Whistler and getting some snow under their feet. Aside from the usual dose of jibbing, jumping, bonking, spinning, sliding, and slashing, plenty of time was spent hanging out with campers and kicking it during various off-hill camp activities.
