JOHN JACKSON - SLEDNECK
03.15.2010
Sometimes snowboarding just isn’t enough. When John gets done laying down an afternoon’s worth of hammers, he needs to hit it up on his sled as well. Check out this satisfaction and boredom fueled air.

To keep up-to-date on Tim’s blog, you might want to subscribe for all the updates. Shit is blowing up lately.

AN EPIC DAY WITH JOHN J
03.11.2010
Forum Staff Photographer, Tim Peare, is claiming to have spent one Hell of a Day with John J. One can only wonder what went down in the backcountry, and his photo slideshow leaves much up to the imagination, but the link above, or the picture below would let you take a peek into the self-proclaimed epicness.
Editor’s note:
These photos are pretty sick considering they were taken from Tim’s iPhone.

JOHN JACKSON ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
02.02.2010
There’s probably going to be a lot of talk about John Jackson over the next few weeks, but with everything that’s been going on lately, that’s expected. Here’s a GREAT VIDEO CLIP of John J accepting his award for Rider of the Year Award from Forum OGs Peter Line and Bjorn Lienes, and getting a little backstage love from Pam Anderson.
Good luck topping that night John.

JOHN JACKSON - WHAT’S NEXT?
02.02.2010
John Jackson has received a lot of awards this year: Rider of the Year in both Snowboarder Magazine and Transworld SNOWboarding, along with Jumper of the Year in Snowboarder, and Video Part of the Year in Transworld. Where some might take that as reason to put their riding on cruise control, John J is still looking to progress far beyond what he’s done in the best year of his career. Don’t believe it? Take a look at this post from Ian Ruhter on the 120 foot gap that John is lining up in the Tahoe Backcountry.
Not enough? How about this time lapse video from Tim Peare?

SIA TRADESHOW
01.31.2010
Forum recently attended the SIA show in Denver, where snowsport manufactures, retailers and lurkers came together to check out the latest and greatest in snowsport equipment. Amidst all the skis, sleds, snowboards, boots and bindings, there were scantily clad individuals, copious amounts of booze and numerous other “did you see that” happenings. The Forum booth held down space G72 (whatever that means), and among the lurkers were the likes of some highly influential pro riders. For those of you that missed out on SIA’s first year in Denver and want to have a quick glimpse at some of the new line, have a look below.

JOHN JACKSON TAKES HOME RIDER OF THE YEAR
01.25.2010
The votes are in and John Jackson has been elected by a group of his peers as this year’s Rider of the Year in Snowboarder Magazine. Forum tried relentlessly to contact Mr. Jackson with some Q&A regarding this lofty award, and well, were met with not much more than radio silence. Guess that John has been far too busy shredding the wake of Lake Tahoe’s most recent Winter storm.

To keep this supdate extra meaty, Forum has taken the time to answer some questions for John.
Forum:
John, how does it feel to have been voted #1 by a group of some of the best known, and most accomplished snowboarders in the world?
Forum’s response for John:
Is the tape recorder rolling? ‘Cause it should be rolling, that’s what I’m saying. ‘Cause then you don’t say anything. You just push the button and it won’t even seem like it’s rolling. It wouldn’t be such a weird thing like “okay, rolling”, cause you don’t even think it’s rolling, ya know? Is it rolling?
Forum:
No…Okay, rolling
Forum’s response for John:
Fuck man
Forum:
What goals did you set for yourself last season to help you get to this point?
Forum’s response for John:
It was such a crazy year, but the biggest thing I overcame was getting my look dialed. I think the snowboarding was the easy part.
Forum:
Moving forward, what goals are you setting for this season? Is there anything that you see holding you back?
Forum’s response for John:
Holding me back? Nothing I can think of…As for goals, ride harder than last year.
Forum:
See, wasn’t that easy? Anything else you’d like to ad?
Forum’s response for John:
Naw Doggie, I’m all good. Gonna go get some freshies right now.
Forum:
Thanks for taking the time John. We love you.
Forum’s response for John:
No problem. I love you more.

NIC SAUVE AND JOHN JACKSON JAM SESSION
12.23.2009
Rail and Backcountry sessions aren’t the only thing these guys are good at. At a recent little get-together, John J laid down some rhythm, while Nic picked up the lead in during this impromptu jam session. Bet you didn’t know Nic Sauve derived his talent from being a prodigy on the violin. John Jackson derived his from being a hippie…

FORUM FRIDAYS - SQUAW JUMP
11.08.2009
Forum Fridays comes to you as an extension of Forum’s most recent team-inspired snowboarding release, FOREVER. While the footage is admirable, it was dropped on the cutting room floor, but swept back up for your visual indulgence.
This clip features John Jackson, Pat Moore, and Daniel Ek and includes some of the cut heli-footage from a day’s work at Squaw Valley. A few of these snuck into FOREVER, but those that didn’t were saved for this little web-nugget.
FOREVER is Forum’s sixth team-video release, and is now available on DVD and in the iTunes Store.

JOHN J - GONE FISHIN’
11.06.2009
Aside from being a great snowboarder, John Jackson is also an excellent fisherman. Seriously, he doesn’t just land big tricks, but some damn big fish too. As documented in the photos below, these Steelhead landings at Trinity are just a precursor to what’s going to be going down this season.

FORUM FRIDAYS WITH JOHN JACKSON
09.25.2009
Forum Fridays comes to you as an extension of Forum’s most recent team-inspired snowboarding release, FOREVER. While the footage is admirable, it was dropped on the cutting room floor, but swept back up for your visual indulgence.
John Jackson locked in two songs for his ender in FOREVER. Music rights were very expensive this year, and If his additional footage were included in the video, he’d have had a three to four song part, putting the entire project over budget. Although this footage is worthy for some other riders out there, it had to be spared for John. Damn this economy.
FOREVER is Forum’s sixth team-video release, and will be available September 19th on DVD along with an iTunes digital download for $6.99 on October 12th

“Look Before You Leap” is a term you’ll hear quite often in snowboarding, especially on those Smart Style signs at the entrance to most terrain parks. The same can ultimately be said in the backcountry. These photos from Tim Peare highlight the Forum team doing some looking. For all the leaping, well, check back in Fall 09 for the new video release.

Lake Tahoe has been the site of some serious dumps lately. The Forum Crew has set up camp, and is working diligently on the filming of this year’s video release. Everyone loves the glory of huge lines and powder booters, but few realize the imminent dangers that exist while riding and filming in the backcountry. This photoset comes from Ian Ruhter and showcases the unstable snow conditions all throughout the Tahoe area.

Forum Lensman, Tim Peare, snapped some mugshots on his recent travels with various members of the Forum Team. Not so much a “what they’re doin” supdate, as it is a, “how they’re lookin” one…and yeah, they look good. They look REAL good. HEY EVERYONE, COME AND SEE HOW GOOD THEY LOOK!

JOHN JACKSON HOOKS FLY FISHERMAN MAGAZINE
12.17.2008
If you didn’t already know, John Jackson is die-hard when it comes to fly fishing. When he’s not snowboarding, you can be sure he’s either on the Trinity swinging for steelhead, in Baja chasing roosters, or fishing Crowley Lake - minutes away from his hometown of Mammoth. As you can see by this year’s John Jackson Pro, featured in the February 09 issue of Fly Fisherman, even when John’s not fishing he’s clearly thinking about it.

IAN RUHTER PHOTO PRESENTATION IN LAKE TAHOE

South Lake Tahoe had the distinct pleasure in showcasing the work of Forum Staff Photographer Ian Ruhter, along with Chris Wellhausen, and Cinematographer Kyle Schwartz at Lake Tahoe Community College. The night began with an Artist reception with Fine Art prints on display, and concluded with a visual presentation by each artist on a 20 x 30 foot screen in the Duke Theater. Ian broke down to the audience his philosophies of Art and how he maintains that integrity principle when managing large advertising campaigns.

IAN RUHTER PHOTO GALLERY ON TWS SNOW
10.06.2008

Forum Staff Photographer, Ian Ruhter, posted a photo gallery on Transworld Snowboarding’s website featuring a plethora of pics (and informative captions) taken during the filming of Forum or Against’em.
“The things that really bother me about my job are also the things I love. I believe that I made the decision to do this with my life subconsciously. The things that I have seen and been a part of have changed my life forever. The snowboard community is the most dysfunctional group of people in the world. We’re anything but normal. That is why we’re all working together. Where else can you be free to express yourself in any way and be accepted? If you don’t fit in to society and you’re not considered a normal person, then come join us. We will welcome anyone who doesn’t want to be put into a cookie-cutter mold. Normal will never measure up to being extraordinary. That is what we are.”
