What are the skills and responsibilities of being a snowboarder?
Staying healthy and trying to do really crazy shit and not get broke off is the tricky part. Being able to never practice and then go filming all season and land new tricks, that gets hard, cause you film, compete, and travel so much, it’s very hard to find time to just snowboard with the homies and learn some stuff. Living out of a board bag for 8 months out of the year gets a little taxing as well.
What makes you want to progress?
That feeling you get when your riding away from a good trick and you know you just got a good shot. That is, hands down, the best feeling in the entire world.
How would you spend your ideal day?
It would be a spring day. I’d wake up and go shred for a little then come down and have a good skate session with some friends. After that we’d have a BBQ and some beers to end the night.
What do you think is the most fun thing to do for yourself?
Snowboarding, obviously, but skating is unbelievable as well. I get a different type of feeling out of skating that is the best feeling ever. Playing guitar is really fun, and just kicking it with my girl.
What would you list as a career highlight?
US Open first place (rail), maybe the Vegas or NYC rail jams, or the London rail jam. Just filming video parts too. You know what… all of these are significant career highlights to me.
Where there any notable trips in filming for Forum or Against’em?
Well, I only had two trips this year and they were both to Quebec, then I got hurt. So, I guess what I’m saying is that my trips to Quebec were pretty notable.
In what kind of snowboard environment are you most comfortable?
Just riding around Mammoth on a fun pow day or riding the park in some nice spring conditions. Those are always fun and relaxing.
If you weren’t snowboarding, you would be?
Skateboarding, surfing, music, art… I have no idea, just something related to those.
What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?
Nothing. Everything should be mellow. It’s probably healthy to joke about the serious stuff.
What was the last thing you regret buying?
Probably an expensive bar tab. HA! It’s usually a good time with some good stories, so I guess I don’t really regret that.
Where do you see yourself when you are 55 years old?
Probably skating, surfing, and snowboarding somewhere around southern California.
